What is the easiest humidifier installation?

Our home is very dry. We have a natural gas furnace, is there an easy humidifier that I can get and install myself to my gas furnace? I thought that this might be the most energy efficeient way to go? I am not sure if humidifiers can even be used on nat gas furnaces?
Thanks in advance

We have owned 3 homes and 2 have had top of the line built-in humidifiers like Aprilaire 760 for gas furnaces. FYI they are NOT an easy to install Do It Yourself job and HVAC sources want to be paid on a time & material basis if you buy one yourself.

Best if you call around recommended local HVAC sources and inquire prices or you might want to advertise on local Craigslist for HVAC or plumber who does side jobs.

In the meantime, recommend you use portable Honeywell humidifiers bec some HVAC systems like the 2nd unit we had installed on our attic floor cannot have a humidifer do to fact temperatures go below freezing at times.

    Best of Luck!

Sears use to have one that attached to your duct work above your furnace. You can check and see if this is still available. You will need to connect it to a cold water source and have an overflow drain available. Most likely you may have to get a certified plumber to install it. We actually have one but found it putting to much moisture in the air, thus causing condensation on our windows. I use a glass or bowl of water hidden in a pretty container – the water evaporates as needed. Hope this helps some.

suggest try those small portable ones which is very easy to carry any where in the house, the humidifier need to be fill with water depends on the capacity you purchase, just plug it on the electric plug, it will work like magic, I am sure you get many made in Japan and far east, not sure if You have it USA, this will save you time and money not forgetting the conversion etc, good luck

Dont listen to rich the Hvac guy they are not an easy install for the average home owner. It entails cutting the duct work installing a saddle valve and some control wiring which will differ depending on what type of furnace and or humidifier you have. YOu can get a stand alone one that you just plug in . But if its a bypass or power humidifier( which uses both line and control voltages) call a pro.
